Hannah Marie Payne's Obituary
Hannah Marie Payne passed away April 9, 2017. Mrs. Payne was born April 25, 1923 in Cardiff, South Wales. The wife of Thomas E. Payne (deceased) passed away peacefully. Mrs. Payne was in the British Military service in WWII where she met and married her husband, a US airman. She moved to Memphis after the War and worked as a bookkeeper/receptionist for Memphis Optical where she retired at age 72. She loved people and never met anyone she couldn’t talk to. She loved music and loved to dance. Traveling was also a love of hers, especially to her beloved Wales. For many years she was a volunteer at Handicap Inc. She was a member of Berclair Baptist Church, and in her later years she attended Christ United Methodist Church. She loved her family and leaves 3 children, son David (Wanda), daughter Deborah Black, and daughter Carol Boals (Dr. Jim Boals); 5 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue on Tuesday April 18, at 10:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Mrs. Payne’s family gives many thanks to the caregivers at Heritage at Irene Woods and to Crossroad Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Payne.
