I knew Hannah all of her life. When she was really little, she and Anne would be running around the house while her mother and I would drink wine or coffee. After I adopted my daughter in 1994, my Anna would be a frequent visitor to their home playing with the girls. When Hannah was a teenager, she was one of Anna’s favorite babysitters, playing dress-up with her and playing games in our Cooper-Young home. There were times when Anna would ask me to go out so Hannah could come babysit. Flash forward several years. Anna and I moved back to Memphis from Kentucky, after which Anna, then a teenager herself, would babysit Hannah’s beautiful children. She loved going to their downtown home, then to their Midtown house and playing with the kids. She told me that she and Hannah would have long talks before and after Hannah and Derek went out. Anna would tell me how easy it was to talk to Hannah and how well she listened. And she would tell me how impressed she was with the mother Hannah was. Hannah and I would communicate periodically on Facebook, and I loved how that allowed us to be in touch. I would keep up with her whenever I talked to her parents. In short, I always had some type of connection with Hannah. It was such a joy to know her as a child, a teenager and a young woman and mother. The beauty of her soul shone through to all of us who knew her and will last forever in the souls of those closest to her.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Kids, she always talked about how beautiful and amazing you two are. Wyatt, she was so impressed with your intelligence and ability to do 4th grade math and division. Chloe, she spoke of how incredibly talented you are in creative writing. She also talked about how much fun she had doing your “cheer” before school the other day. I am so sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss. Kids, she always talked about how beautiful you two are and how she wants so much for you. Wyatt, she was so impressed with how smart you are and the fact that you are already doing 4th grade math and division. Chloe, she spoke of your amazing creative writing skills and how much fun she had doing that “cheer” with you before school the other day. I cannot put into words my sympathies but always remember you were loved very much.
Hannah was loved by all who knew her. Our hearts go out to her sweet family in their sadness and loss.
