Some people pass thru your life without making an impact but some people come into your life and make a difference in your future and this was Grif Chandler to me and a lot of other people that knew him. I finished my college degree thanks to Grif, not only did he help me with the time to study but he also taught me algebra so I could pass my statistics class, when I would get stumped on a problem he help me find the solution. He encouraged me to get involved in the community and in doing so I learned to love Olive Branch and become active the way he was.If you were lucky and he allowed you to know him you were very fortunate, he was quite and caring, unpretentious, honest and open and a man with a great deal of integrity with a good work ethic. We made a good team, there was just a handful of employees that were responsible for 4 different companies under one umbrella but he made it seem very effortless and he was in charge at all times and we all learned a lot from him about business.Grif Chandler was a Charter member of the Olive Branch Rotary Club and served for several years on the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Grif came into the community of Olive Branch when there were only about 500 residents and his work in helping to develop and run the Industrial Park helped launch the industrial revolution of the area and make Olive Branch years later the fastest growing city in the US. But the growth began with the foundation of the development of the Industrial Park and Grif was one of the main players in making this happen. He was a very big fish in the little pond of Olive Branch. His wisdom, and will power and knowledge and willingness to serve our community made such a huge impact on the community. He had such a love for Olive Branch I considered him one of the founding father of our Industrial Revolution in our community.I’m a better person because of some of the lessons I learned from Grif, and I will never forget him, he became very much like a father figure to me.
