I have several memorable memories of George but one stands the test of time.
At one of the many family functions we all attend, I was telling George that I had been laying ceramic tile in some houses, that I had been helping to renovate.
At the time he had just added a room to his cabin home and needed to lay a floor. I told him no problem, I’d give him a hand, and we scheduled a 3 day weekend, to tackle it.
We worked hard for 3 days, for a couple of old guys, and laid all the tiles, and grouted a small section, leaving him to do most of the grouting.
After one of those grueling days, we were sitting around and George asked if I wanted a shot of whiskey, I said sure. We talked about many things, family, careers and politics. So, with a serious look on his face he asked me, what happened in my life, to make me a Democrat. I smiled and laughed a little and tried to provide some rationale for him, and laughed quite a bit that night.
George was a good person, father and friend to all that knew him and will be missed by all.
R. I. P. my friend.
