Col. Franklin Finley, US Army (Ret.)'s Obituary
Franklin Finley, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 2, 2018. Franklin was born August 4, 1935 in Chicago, IL and was the oldest of four brothers born to Francis and Harriet Finley. He was a member of Collierville Christian Church. Franklin was a graduate of Central High School and Memphis State University. He married Nancy McKee on January 3, 1958 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on that date earlier this year. Franklin served in the United States Army either on active duty or in the reserves continuously from May 1957 until his retirement on his birthday in 1995. He worked for Retail Credit Company (which later became Equifax) from 1960 until his retirement in 1993. Franklin, with his wife, Nancy, and earlier with his children, traveled extensively throughout virtually every state in the United States and three other continents. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather with a passion for spending time with his family. Franklin is preceded in death by a younger brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Nancy McKee Finley, his children, Lea Ranell Finley and Jon Kavin Finley (Keena), as well as three grandchildren, Jace Kavin Finley (Anna), Lauren Laine Finley and Paul Franklin Finley. He is also survived by two younger brothers, David Finley (Britt) and Robert Finley (Judy) and their families. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 7 from 12pm until the time of the funeral service at 2pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. The burial will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of the donor’s choice.
