I used to love seeing her barrel down running late in her white Cadillac at Millington South. She would be speeding down with her windows down and that red leather interior. Her polyester pant suits were always just a little too tight especially over the muffin top and the hair was teased for days to the point it looked like a bird's nest. She was so mean to the black kids I always wondered when she would be fired. God bless her. I am sure she is looking up at us.
Mrs. Speros was my 6th grade teacher at Springhill Elementary in 1970. We were Bill Jr.’s age. I adored her and kept in touch with her through my nursing school graduation. I regret I did not contact her when I returned to Memphis about 4 years ago. I thought of her around 2-12-15 thinking I should try and find her. I heard today she passed away. I am deeply sorry to hear of her passing. Please know I still think of some of the things she said way back then. She was the best teacher I ever had and I will never forget her. “Always look your best, you never know who you may run into!”She encouraged me to try out for cheerleading that year which put me on a good road going forward. I had alot of energy and it was going somewhere! She was beautiful inside and out.She made learning fun and supported our efforts, but she was also stern which we kids needed. “FREEZE”! Was one way she controlled the class. Of course we froze in whatever position we were in and it was fun….. and quite was restored.I loved her and will never forget her. She was inspirational. Dear Family,I’m a minister and I would like to offer some comfort for the loss of Frances. I like to remember the bible’s promises regarding those loved ones of ours who have died. In the bible, God tells us that he will, one day soon, resurrect our dead loved ones. Acts 24:15 tells us that “there IS going to be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous.” And this is not just for those going to heaven. The bible also tells us at Psalms 37:29 that the earth will be filled with righteous mankind in the near future. So we have good things to look forward to regarding Our beloved family members that we have lost in death. And we can be sure that God’s promises will come true!
