Foy T. Cothren's Obituary
Mary Foy Taylor Cothren came into the presence of her Savior on December 11, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on August 11, 1937 to Thomas Francis Taylor, Jr. and Lavinia Foy Taylor. She originally lived in Eupora, Mississippi, and was a valedictorian in high school. She attended Ole Miss in 1956-57, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Having trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1973 with her family, and she graduated from Mid-South Bible College, where she was again valedictorian. She joined with and supported her husband in ministry at Broadway Baptist Church; as he traveled; as he served as pastor of First Baptist Church in French Camp, Mississippi; and as he counseled in the Whitehaven area of Memphis, Tennessee and in Southaven, Mississippi. She was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for several years and a long-time member of First Evangelical Church. Foy was a member and treasurer of a local chapter of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was a legendary dog breeder of show quality Pulik; her involvement with the breed will be remembered in the fine Pulik descended from her DOWNHOME Kennel. She leaves behind a daughter, Fran Cothren Woody, and husband Rick of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Fran’s children: Brad Hubbard (Heidi) of Harrison, Tennessee and great- grandchildren Jade, Joselyn, and Jackson Hubbard, and step great- grandson Jacob Ball; Jared Hubbard (Megan) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and great- grandchildren McKenna and Marinn Hubbard; Mary Catherine Herman (Steve) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and great-grandchildren Baylie and Brayden Herman, and step granddaughter Autumn Herman. She leaves behind a son, Jay Cothren, and his wife Julie of Collierville, Tennessee, and grandchildren Corbin Jennings Cothren and Aidan Taylor Cothren. Memorials may be sent to: First Evangelical Church, 735 Ridge Lake Blvd., Memphis, TN or to The Master’s Seminary, 13248 Roscoe Blvd., Sun Valley California, 91352 or to Grace To You, 28001 Harrison Parkway, Valencia, CA. 91355. Visitation will begin at 12 o’clock noon at Memorial Park’s Fireside Chapel, 5668 Poplar Ave. on Sunday, December 15, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2 o’clock.
