Ernest Lee Moore's Obituary
Ernest Lee Moore, 93, loving husband for 70 years of Mamie Ennis Moore now deceased, passed away on February 1, 2014, at Methodist Hospice. Ernest worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for over 40 years and proudly served as a Marine in the South Pacific during World War II. He was an active member of Buntyn Presbyterian Church, serving as leader of his Sunday school class for many years. He enjoyed electronics, mechanics, gardening and square dancing. Most of all he had a passion for helping his family, neighbors, friends, and those less fortunate. “Ernie” had a special love for all children and volunteered many years at his granddaughters’ elementary school. He tutored, participated in field trips and provided needed supplies to students. Mr. Moore is survived by his son, Don Moore (Clare Grace), daughter, Diane (Ronnie) Bonner, granddaughters Lauren and Leigh Bonner, and close friend and brother in law, Wheaton Ennis. He leaves special friends Lois Nelson of Colorado and Debra, Danniese and Connie. The visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m., Friday, February 7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Buntyn Presbyterian Church, any children’s hospital, Methodist Hospice, or a charity of one’s choice.
