Emmett "Rusty" Rossie's Obituary
Emmett “Rusty” Anthony Rossie, Jr., 64, passed away July 18, 2014 at Methodist Germantown Hospital surrounded by his family. Rusty was born August 2, 1949 in Jackson, Miss. to his parents, Dr. Emmett Anthony Rossie, Sr. and Marjorie Barnes Rossie Turk. He was the oldest of five children, served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a lifelong Ole Miss fan. A devout Catholic, Rusty was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.Rusty was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Emmett Anthony Rossie. He is survived by his wife, Martha Burke Rossie of Lakeland, Tenn.; daughter, Ashley (Nick) Crouch of Huntsville, Ala.; son, Chris (Kim) Rossie of Lakeland, Tenn.; mother, Marjorie (Clem) Turk of Jackson, Miss.; sisters Barbara Dyer and Gail Dickinson of Madison, Miss.; brothers Ricky (Karen) Rossie of Madison, Miss. and Paul (M’Lou) Rossie of Oviedo, Fla.; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jase and Presley Crouch of Huntsville, Ala. and 20 nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Visitation will be held Monday, July 21 at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m., with the rosary being said at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 22 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.To know Rusty was to love him and he will be greatly missed.
