Doyle A. Johnson's Obituary
Doyle Alton Johnson, 90, passed away on June 19, 2012. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by a son, Wayne Edwin Johnson, and his wife Lillian Gayle Johnson. He is survived by son Craig A. Johnson of Roanoke, VA, grandchildren, Abbey Bogost, Caleb Johnson, and Susannah Johnson, and two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Flannery Bogost. Mr. Johnson served as an Army Air Corps pilot and aerobatics instructor in World War II, flying 68 missions over the ‘Hump’ in India. Following the war he became a flight inspector for the Civil Aeronautics Administration. He finished his flying career as the Executive Pilot for Conwood Corporation flying a LearJet 23 until retiring in 1984. He and his wife Lil were members of Christ Methodist Church over 60 years and remained active as long as health allowed. An informal graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on Sunday, June 24, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Young Life of Memphis.
