Dorothy Ludeke's Obituary
Dorothy Virginia Collins Ludeke passed away on April 24, 2018 at the age of 100. She was a resident of Ave Maria Assisted Living, where she enjoyed her last few years. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James H. Collins, Sr. and the widow of Harry I. Ludeke, after 59 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Claire DuBois, of Memphis, TN, and Helen Watkins, of Louisville, KY; three brothers, Drs. James and Frank Collins, both of Memphis, and Edward Collins, of Gatlinburg, TN. Dorothy was a member of Cherry Road Baptist Church, a member of Ruth Rebekah Lodge, and past President of the Rebekah Assembly of Tennessee, as well as past President of the Patriarchs Militant, a branch of the same order. She was also a member of the Oakville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Daughter of the Nile. She was an active member of many genealogy chapters, including the Hermitage Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mary Latham Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, 17th Century Colonial Dames, Jamestown Society, National Society, Magna Charta Dames, Sovereign Colonial Society Americans of Royal Descent. She was also active with the Southern Belle Dolls Club, as well as Brooks Art Museum League, and a volunteer for the Wonders Series and Memphis Public Library. She leaves her sister-in-law, Sara Collins of Gatlinburg, along with her many nieces and nephews. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 30 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
