Dennis A. Taylor's Obituary
Mr. Dennis Allen Taylor of Cordova, Tennessee, passed away June 2, 2019 at Baptist East Hospital at the age of 72.Born on September 8th, 1946 in Peoria, IL he was the son of late Lloyd James Taylor and Thelma Ilene Strode. He graduated Morton Township High School, where he lettered in wrestling and track. Dennis was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Marine Corps and after an honorable discharge from the military, he moved to Morton, Illinois and opened a Tavern in East Peoria called D-J’s. He then completed his Associates Degree at Illinois Central College. He later took a job with Caterpillar in Memphis, TN and he finished his career as the owner of Taylor Made Construction.He was an honorable family man that had an incredible sense of humor and loved to entertain his family and friends. He was a mentor to some, a “brother” to others and adored by so many. He was a member of many organizations such as Masons (Unity Lodge #95 of Memphis, TN), Scottish Rite (33rd Degree), Al Chymia Shrine, where he participated in Yoshi, Director’s Staff, and volunteered with the Shrine circus. Dennis raised countless dollars for his 2 favorite charities which included the Shriners Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He had signed up for his 37th year at the St. Jude Golf Tournament, which will be held in July. Dennis was a selfless man who loved to volunteer and spent many hours, even years, at events that would benefit and help others.Over the years, he joined several bowling leagues and played softball. He was a season ticket holder for the University of Memphis football team for more than 20 years and enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brother Randy Burge, sisters Sandra Hudson and Debbie Tribbett, and niece, Dawn Brown.
