Deborah A. Towns Armour's Obituary
Deborah A. Towns Armour passed away at her home on January 10, 2022. Born in
Memphis, Deborah was the daughter of the late Edgar Towns Jr. and the late Osa
Weatherly Towns. She grew up in Klondike and was a product of the Memphis
City Schools system attending Klondike Elementary School and Northside High
School. Upon graduation from Northside, she matriculated to Lake Forest College
in Lake Forest Illinois where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art
History and Sociology.
Declaring upon graduation from college that she wanted to “See the World”,
Deborah then embarked on doing so by traveling far and wide to several foreign
countries as an airline stewardess for Northwest Orient Airlines and then later
enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Deborah was provided with a further opportunity
to “See the World” as the new bride of Brian John Armour Sr. as began his
military career in the US Army in Frankfurt Germany; thereafter the love of her
life was born, Brian John Armour, Jr. Deborah returned home to Memphis and
became laser-focused on the love of her family, the church, education, and the arts.
Deborah served for many years as a dedicated employee of Memphis City Schools
and was known for her annual displays of her intricate artwork in local art fairs.
She remained active in the church as exhibited by her tireless energy in her
younger years as a member of the Payne Chapel AME Church and in her later
years as a member of the Community Bible Church.
Deborah is survived by her son, Brian John Armour, Jr. and her sister, Beverly
Towns Williams and a wide circle of close personal friends
The family as entrusted her services to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery; 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN. 38119.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 17th, from 2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
