I was so sad to learn today of the passing of my dearest friend Clara Francis. She was my mentor and friend since she hired me in 1969 to work for her in the U. S. Forest Service Division of Fire Control. She taught me everything I needed to know about being a good employee and helped me more than anyone in furthering my career. She had more influence on me than anyone in my life except my parents, and I will forever be grateful to her. She was a wonderful person, always so kind and wiling to help others. I will miss her very much. I will always love you, Clara.

I met Mrs Francis in about 1981. I began cutting her lawn and did so for about 20 years on macciness. After her auto accident and her move to Kirby Pines, I visited her a few times, but talked with her a couple times a year. We exchanged Christmas cards every year. She followed me and the birth and growth of my children. My son started helping me with her yard from about 6 years old until his teenage years.
I will always remember her encouragement and her spiritual gift was definitely exhortation and I was definitely the receiver of that many times. The perfect example of a Christian lady and heaven has become a better place and she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Well done thou good and faithful servant. She will be missed

I am saddened to read of the passing of sweet Clara Mae. I had two aunts living at Kirby Pines and Clara Mae was their friend. I used to tell Clara Mae I would be another niece to her. No adjective can really describe her loving, generous, kind and happy spirit. Clara Mae was always one of our 'special guests' at the annual birthday lunch and she visited my aunts when they were in the nursing home. I could go on and on about all the ways Clara Mae volunteered and helped people at Kirby Pines. She was truly a friend to all.

Rest In Peace, sweet lady.

Dan and I purchased her home on Macinness in Memphis in 1998. We raised all of our children there. We were sad to have to sell it in 2019 before we moved to Atlanta but have so many wonderful memories in that house. I’m so grateful Miss Clara Mae called me to buy her house. God is so good!

Clara Mae, you were a one of a kind aunt, had such a huge love of children, and boy did they love you, including my son. I have very fond memories of our visits to see you and Uncle C as a child in Alpharetta. Had so much fun feeding the livestock in the field behind your house, horses and cows. You always saved apple peels, peelings off of tomatoes, cucumbers, etc and put them in a bucket and Tom and I would take them to the fence and call for them if I recall and they would come up and eat from our hand. Tommy and I had a lot of fun out in your front yard making a fort out of the many pine needles in your yard. We enjoyed going to C's shop and visiting Loy and Hazel and Granny Francis also. I remember when you took mom and I to Atlanta to see Gone With the Wind. I am sure I was not older than 12. And our visit to Setting Down Creek was a lot of fun, I came across a picture just yesterday of our visit there, I was 8. Boy was that a long time ago. I am so sad you are gone but will always cherish the fun times of the past.
