I suppose one of my fondest memories of Chatman Mathews was his 80th birthday celebration, which was four years ago. That evening was one that will never be forgotten. People (and not just a few of them) we had not seen since we were children in the old neighborhood showed up to celebrate his life. During this event it became clear to me just how much people loved my Dad, and how much love he had shared in his life … and how much laughter. He brought something special to a lot of lives. I’m so grateful I can say that he was my Dad. Thank You God, for giving him to us, and for receiving him back on yesterday, 12/14/12.
