Charlotte Nicely's Obituary
Charlotte Nicely age 87 went to sleep in her own bed in Memphis and woke up Tuesday morning, April 23, 2013 in heaven. Today she is rejoicing with the Lord and with friends and family who have gone on before her. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, George Donald Nicely; son, Lyle Steven Nicely and his wife Heather; and daughter Dr. Charleene Virginia Nicely. She also leaves three beloved grandchildren, Sarah Beth Gallenberger, Sierra Colleene Nicely, and James Orion Nicely; and brothers, David Patterson and his wife Thelma of Phoenix, AZ and Melvin Patterson and his wife Sue of Richmond, VA. She was an active member of First Assembly of God since 1962, teaching Sunday school and involved in a variety of youth activities. She and her husband served six years in Belgium at International Correspondence Institute. Later, they conducted numerous media and Sunday school workshops in various east bloc countries after The Wall came down. She was an active member in the DAR and also heavily involved in veteran’s projects. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to your favorite veteran’s organization. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 25 and the funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis.
