I was maybe 3 or 4 years old. Mamma was babysitting for Lyle and we were asleep in the bedroom. The light came on in the hallway and I awoke to the beautiful vision of Charlotte standing in the doorway in her full skirted peacock blue semi-formal and smelling like a princess. She approached the bed and kissed me and whispered in my ear to go back to sleep. I watched as she bundled Lyle into her arms and kissed him as his arms wrapped around her neck. The hall light turned off and I fell into wonderful dreams of red headed fairy princesses in peacock blue dresses teaching me how to fly.My love of tacos came from her introducing them to this little Southern girl in the days before Taco Bell! Hers were better, though.As I grew into the tall woman I became, my Charlotte became my mentor as to how to carry stature with grace as she did. Her gentle spirit is still something I aspire to.I have worn my hair in the brilliant red shade that I remember was yours for several years because her.I love you, Charlotte. The WE House and Diane purchased the Secret Garden Basket for the family of Charlotte Nicely.
Mrs. Nicely was always such an inspiration to me. She attended the same church I did as a child and I was always excited to be in her class. I remember how interesting her colored chalk drawings were as she told us about Jesus and how we acted out some of the stories. She was a special friend and inspiration to me as an adult and especially caring to me after my Mother passed away. My life was richly blessed by her!

My Aunt Charlotte was very special to me. From the time I was a little girl, while I was growing up, we would always spend our Christmas days at her house. I remember my aunt as a beautiful, hardworking, sophisticated, and intelligent lady. She made wonderful food, sewed well, and painted beautifully. I think that just about anything she decided to do, she would do and do it well. She always did things with excellence. When I would come to Memphis to visit with my grandparents during the summers, Aunt Charlotte would make sure that she came and spent some time with me. One summer she took me to Libertyland for the day. Another time, we went and looked at miniature doll house furniture. I have many good memories of times that we spent together. She always showed me love, and I loved her very much. Teresa Patterson Abood
