Heart felt condolences to the Powe Family. Eddie Powe was a great guy and a terrific quarterback. Not only a gifted player, but an inspirational team leader. Having played with Eddie for three years especially my junior and his senior year, I can see him now, lining up under the center, getting ready to call the cadence for the next play. It was the night before the EHS game his senior year and Eddie was called on to speak to the whole school assembled to cheer the team before the game the next day. And Eddie made some remarks that I have never forgotten, among other things he said. “Remember it’s not the size of the dog in the fight it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” Great words for anyone playing sports, but especially guys like Eddie and me who were slightly undersized for our positions. I haven’t seen Eddie much since Woodberry days, but I have always remembered what a great teammate and inspirational friend he was to everyone. We will all miss him. Richard S “Major” Reynolds 111
