Charles Porter Avery, III's Obituary
Charles Porter Avery, III, 61 passed away July 29, 2014. Mr. Avery was honorably discharged from the United States Army as First Lieutenant. He retired, in 2013, after 18 years of service as an Engineer with FedEx and 19 years at Dover. As a 1970 graduate of Jackson High School and 1974 graduate of University of Tennessee at Martin, he continued his education at University of Memphis, where he earned his Master’s Degree. Mr. Avery was preceded in death by his father, Charles Porter Avery, II, and survived by his loving wife, Lesa Mercer Avery; children, Emily Kalmon (Nathan) and Chris Avery; mother, Mamie Meriwether Avery; sister, Mary Milton (Russ) and granddaughter, Hailey Kalmon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son who will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 2 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to either West Clinic or Methodist Hospice Residence.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis TN, 38119.
