Carolyn Imogene Montgomery's Obituary
Carolyn I. Montgomery, 93, of Olive Branch, Mississippi passed away peacefully in her home on March 13, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, and her personal favorite, Nana. Carolyn was born in Kevil, Kentucky on February 20, 1930. She was the daughter of Phil and Mary Hayden Suter. She married the love of her life, Floyd C. (Monty) Montgomery on June 29, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee. When asked how long they had been married, Floyd answered "74 years", and said with a smile, "I think it's going to last!".
She was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Memphis where she volunteered with St. Mark's Religious Goods store and the Altar Society. Carolyn deeply valued her faith as well as her family during her life. She cherished the times she could get everyone together under one roof. She will be greatly missed.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Barbara Montgomery Parham, and granddaughter, Jennifer's husband, Tim Sere. Carolyn is survived by her husband Floyd, daughter, Linda Reilly (Pat), son, David Montgomery (Lisa), son, Gordon Montgomery (Julie), and daughter, Patricia Gillenwater (John), 15 grandchildren: Patrick Reilly, Allison Reilly Loyd, Brandon Reilly, Jennifer Montgomery Sere, Melissa Montgomery Morris, Philip Montgomery, Walker Montgomery, Stephanie Montgomery Hughes, Tyler Montgomery, Hayden Montgomery, Jordan Montgomery, Clayton Montgomery, Angel Montgomery, Emily Gillenwater, and Caroline Gillenwater, 13 great grandchildren: Hayes and Brooks Reilly, Grayson and Reilly Loyd, Michael Luke, Penelope, Eleanor, and Scarlett Sere, Matthew Jr., Hudson, Lincoln Morris, Rachel and Jacob Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Shriner's Children's Hospital.
Services will be held March 18, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. A private family visitation will be at 12:30 PM with a public visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 2:00PM. Her son, Gordon Montgomery will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery
