Carole Elizabeth Schuh's Obituary
Our sweet Carole, 62, of Arlington, TN was born the youngest child to the late Orion Evans and Cora Elizabeth Little on September 7, 1960 in West Memphis, AR. She peacefully passed away November 16, 2022, in her home surrounded by family.
Carole is survived by her husband Charles “Mark” Schuh, two daughters Jamie (Spenser Rich) of Cape Girardeau, MO & Caitlin (Carter White) of Memphis, TN, three siblings: Charles “Charlie” Little of Horseshoe Lake, AR, Linda Jackson of West Memphis, AR, & George “Lynn” Little of Marion, AR, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families whom she loved dearly.
Carole graduated Valedictorian from West Memphis Christian High School class of 1978. She then went on to pursue her passion of caring for others at Baptist School of Nursing, graduating in 1981. She married her soulmate, Charles Mark Schuh, on March 18, 1983. Together they built a loving home, raising their children in Memphis and later Arlington, TN. Carole thoroughly enjoyed an illustrious 40-year career as an intensive care Registered Nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. As a Head Nurse, she took pride in precepting and mentoring many other nurses, encouraging others to fulfill their full potential in the field. Continual learning and involvement in patient care improvement research was important to her. Her gentle nature and warmth touched the lives of many patients and families, and she brought a bright light in their most vulnerable moments. Her dedication to her career speaks for itself through her numerous accolades. She was an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and earned countless awards and recognition for nursing excellence. She truly cherished the relationships built with her co-workers, ancillary staff, and doctors who became her work family over the years. She celebrated a much-deserved retirement in December 2021.
Carole loved spending her time with her family relaxing at the beach, glamping while traveling cross-country with her husband, singing along to Tom Petty and George strait, and believed all college football Saturdays should be spent supporting her favorite Arkansas Razorbacks by calling the Hogs. She was a dog mom to her fur child Petey and a “glamma” to Harley, Kane, Polly, and Wrigley. Above all else, our mommy loved her savior, Jesus Christ. She found peace in knowing there would be a great reunion, and that she would be fully healed forevermore in the arms of the Father.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents Orion E. “Pete” & Cora Little, sister Patricia Little, and nephew James Michael Little.
