It has been over 40 years since the first time I met Carol Amato. She was sitting on the green leather sofa watching the Tigers play and yes, she was cheering them on with excitement and enthusiasm (an understatement). I can still hear her little laugh when she noticed I was watching her, and not the game.
I remember her telling stories from the past about the days that Elvis died, and when Kennedy was assassinated. She told those stories with the same energy as watching the Tigers. Well, almost.
The last time I saw her, she wasn’t feeling well but with the help of Annette she came to visit me because I had lost a parent. If she couldn’t see how much that touched me, she can now.
Annette, Kathy, Eddie, my heart is with you, your children and your families. May you find peace in knowing your mom will never feel pain again. No sorrow, no fear, only love and eternal rest.
