Captain Dorothy L. Vollmer, USMC (Ret.)'s Obituary
Captain Dorothy L. Vollmer, USMC (Ret.), 84, of Bartlett, daughter of the late Charles F. Sr. and Idabel L. Vollmer, died of pancreatic cancer at Methodist Hospice Residence, February 12, 2012. Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, February 17, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Dorothy was a Realtor Broker for 28 years and served on several committees of the former Memphis Board of Realtors. She was an active member of the Raleigh United Methodist Church where she served on various committees. In addition she was the secretary of the HOA of Gardens of Bartlett Downs, past secretary of Memphis Council 135 of the Order of the United Commercial Travelers of America, Past Grand Counselor of the Tennessee Grand Council of the Order of the United Commercial Travelers of America, past treasurer of the Reitred Officers Association, and Memphis Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars. Captain Vollmer leaves a nephew, Rev. Charles F. Vollmer III of Chittenango, NY, three nieces, Dr. Stephanie Bowen of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, Valerie Sullivan of Galway, New York and Dorothy L. Smith of Buford, GA, 8 great nieces and 3 great great nephews. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Raleigh United Methodist Church, Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
