I have not seen Bryce in many years, but I do remember neeting him when I took Melissa to register at MTSU. Melissa and I were a hot mess. We couldn't find anything, and weren't sure what we needed to do to get her settled in. Bryce rode up on a bike and asked "hey, what are ya'll doing?" We explained we were lost, dazed and confused about where we needed to go. Bryce gave us great directions or would say "just follow me." He would go slow on his bike or point and tell us exactly where to go. We would accomplish one task and then quickly reenter the confusion zone. But, guess who would suddenly appear from nowhere and say "hey, what are ya'll doing?", and then proceed to save the day by directing us whereever we needed to go and what we needed to do. That went on all day long. I wondered "Is this coincedence or just good fate?" This kid is great! It was as if we had our own campus/registration guide. He was precious, funny and smiling all day. I saw him here and there many times after that when Melissa was young, but I will be forever thankful to Bryce Ledbetter for the kindness and patience he showed us that day. It was adorable. I said over and over that week, "I love that kid!" I am so sorry for the loss for all of those that loved him. I know he had so many friends that will dearly miss him. He seemed very special and one of a kind. Rest in peace, Bryce.
Dear Bryce,
I am so saddened and shocked that you have passed away. Words cannot express the pain and sorrow I’m feeling.
I have so many memories and thought of you from birth to adulthood. I was there the day you were born and watched you grow to a very special and handsome man. You were too young to die but God had other plans. I will miss you and will cherish each day of your life here on earth. You are safe and sound in the arms of God in heaven and we will all be reunited again someday. Rest in peace my wonderful nephew. You will be in my heart forever❤️🙏❤️
My wife and I traveled with Bryce and his parents to the Cayman Islands in the early 90’s on a vacation. Bryce was curious about skipping stones on top of the water, so I taught him how to hold and then sidearm a flat stone across the water. This simple act brought such joy to a young and innocent boy’s face!
Years later I ran into Bryce at Lafayette’s in Overton Square and he reminded of how appreciative he was for that moment! It really showed me how genuine and caring Bryce was for the little things in life. How fragile and bittersweet life is!
RIP young man! RIP Brenda!
My favorite memory of Bryce is from kindergarten, when I asked him to cut my hair and he did it without hesitation. Although our parents and the school faculty were understandably upset, that moment sparked a friendship that lasted through our next eight years at St. Dominic and continued long after. I’m grateful I was able to see Bryce again just a few months ago.
