Betty Jean Ray's Obituary
Betty Jean Ray, 87, went to her heavenly home on December 18, 2020. She was born September 5, 1933 in Corinth, MS. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Ray, being widowed at the young age of 39. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Merryman (Norman); sons, Ed, Mike, and like a third son, DeWayne Drinnon; and her one and only grandson, Jesse. Betty was also preceded in death by two of her brothers, Billy Joe Emmons and William Emmons. Her surviving siblings are her brother, Bobby Emmons (Dixie); her sister, Wanda Smith; and her sister-in-law, Sandra Emmons. Others left to cherish her memories are her lifelong friend, Gloria Harbison as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She retired from Sears at the age of 68 after almost 28 years of service. She will be remembered most for her love for family and friends, always strong, independent, and for being a caregiver for whomever needed it. Becoming a grandmother at the age of 80 was her biggest joy. She will be truly missed by family and friends, but we have peace knowing she is in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Due to the current pandemic we are in and for the safety of all family and friends the family has chosen to have a private family only service here at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26th at 11 am., this service will be webcasted for those who cannot be here. A Committal service will be held the same day at 12 pm at the gravesite. Since this will be outdoors the family welcomes anyone that would like to come.
