Betty Genkinger's Obituary
Betty Lou Finch Genkinger, age 93, passed away from a Covid-related illness on December 8, 2020. The daughter of Carrie and Fred Finch of New Castle, Pennsylvania, she attended New Castle High School and Westminster College.
She married husband David on October 2, 1954 and moved with him first to Sheffield Lake, Ohio and later to St Louis, MO. In 1972, after the family moved to Germantown, Tennessee, Betty went to work for the City of Germantown, a job she held for more than 20 years. After the passing of her husband, Dave, in 1996 Betty returned to work at the Memphis Hearing and Balance Center, a job she held until she was 84 years old. Betty was the loving and devoted mother of two sons: Jeff of Lexington, KY and Scott of Los Angeles, CA; one beloved grandson, Jason, his wife Megan; and three adored great-grandchildren, Aspen, Houston, and Paxton. She also leaves behind many wonderful and caring friends. She was an avid bridge player and will be remembered for her effervescent smile, infectious laugh, and loving heart. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, Betty's family requests donations to Feeding America (feedingamerica.org), an organization that feeds hungry people affected by the pandemic.
