Betsy H. Graham's Obituary
Betsy Henderson Graham, 74, went to be with the Lord the afternoon of December 13, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Her life was exemplified by her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Betsy was a faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church where she attended the Walking By Faith Sunday School class. She was born on September 8, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to William Martin Henderson and Martha Whitten Henderson. She graduated from Central High School and attended college at Southwestern (now Rhodes College) where she was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority. Betsy used her Art History major in the fine furniture and interior design fields where she created ads for the Howard Graham Sleep Shoppe. She then worked for the Homestead House, Haas Furniture Showroom, and spent over twenty years at Bradford Furniture Showroom. Betsy loved working with the many clients she met and was able to serve. She enjoyed all aspects of the fine arts and spending time with her children, extended family, and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Marvin Graham and her sister Ann Henderson McCallen. She dearly loved all her children and was very much a part of their lives. Betsy leaves behind three children; Kathryn “Katie” Graham West (Wade), Howard Marvin Graham, Jr. (Kimberley), and Martha “Molly” Graham Gore (Mike), and her seven grandchildren; William Thomas West, III, Howard Graham West, Elijah Howard Graham, Lillian Gardner Graham, James Andrew Graham, Elizabeth Price Gore, and William Graham Gore. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Second Presbyterian Church Foundation or Neighborhood Christian Center. The family would like to invite all friends to attend the services that will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013. The graveside service will be at 9:00 a.m. at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Avenue, 38119. The memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Second Presbyterian Church, 4055 Poplar Avenue, 38111, and the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
