Barney Lee Mathews' Obituary
Barney Lee Mathews passed away suddenly at 75 years of age on April 17th, 2021. Barney served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Prairie View A&M of Texas with a master’s degree in business. In his career Barney was an air traffic controller, custom Home builder and mortgage banker. Barney was most recently employed by Bank of America as a Senior Loan Officer. His peers recently honored him by voting him ‘Team MVP’. Barney loved the state of Texas, the Houston Oilers and the Tennessee Titans. He was voted Friendliest by his high school classmates; Barney was loved by all he touched.
Barney is survived by his wife Lenora; his son, Kelly; his daughter, Stephanie; his stepson, Ronnie; his grandchildren, Georginna, Abigal, Flower, and his step grandchildren, Trey, Hayden, and Betsy; his sister, Doris; his nieces, Nicolette and Gracie; and his nephew, Riley. Barney was preceded in passing by his sister Betty.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis.
