Barney was always so sweet and kind. I’m the oldest of my siblings by a good 7 and 9 years so it could get lonely at times. Barney always made me feel so welcomed. I liked playing video games but was never allowed a gaming system other than handhelds. Barney had purchased a PlayStation for himself but whenever I came to visit my Aunt Nonnie, he always set it up and we played together. He only had one controller so really, he would let me play and he’d watch. That’s just how Barney was; sacrificing his time to create a little joy for someone else. He was the first adult who talked to me like I wasn’t just a kid and I appreciate all of the time he spent with me. He is very missed!

My favorite memory with Barney was back when he lived with us in Texas he used to always come home with Skittles. We would laugh for hours as we tried to toss them up in the air and catch them with our mouth. Barney was such a joyful person and will be missed.

My family and I were fortunate enough to have Barney live with us for a few years prior to my sister being born! Getting to see Barney when I was dismissed from school and when he was finally off of work will always remain close to my heart. With that, until he passed my loving grandpa would always call me “Big Dog” whether he was texting me or giving me a big ole Barney hug when I got to see him again. To Barney: I can’t wait to talk about some Titans football and how I seem to always get taller and more handsome each time you see me. Love and miss you always! - Big Dog

Uncle Barney was a very very down to Earth and sweet man. When I was a young child, uncle Barney would always make sure the PlayStation was setup for me and him when I came in town, just so we could play call of duty and snowboarding games together. He always made sure I knew I was loved and that he cared about me! I’m really gonna miss the kind man that he was. Barney, thank you for taking care of me and my siblings growing up and also for taking care of my aunt Lenora so well. See you soon ❤️

I am lucky enough to call Barney my uncle. My childhood is full of laughs and love, largely due to him. No matter my age, Uncle Barney always made me feel as an equal. He spoke to me with care and was such a great listener. When I think of my uncle, I am reminded to walk through this life with empathy, compassion, and care for every living thing. I love you Uncle Barney. Thank you for showing me what Godly love truly looks like and for taking such great care of my Aunt Lenora.
