Oh Ms. Barbara, I LOVED you So! In 1990, my husband became a pilot with FedEx. So we moved to Cordova away from all of our family. I started working in surgery at St. Francis. Immediately Ms. Barbara took me under her wing. She not only became a fellow employee but she became family! David and I had two little girls and Ms. Barbara became their unofficial grandmother. She took us for our first visit to the Peabody to see the ducks. Of course we where in awe. She was always there for anyone that needed anything. She was the Best nurse I have ever worked with. If I got out of line, Ms. Barbara would be the first to let me know and I LOVED her more for it. She loved her family and was so proud of them. Most of all, she loved the Lord. I was named after my Aunt Barbara. She came to my son's christening and visited our church when I sang. It was touching to be remembered, especially knowing that she was very busy with work and family. Aunt Barbara had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling funny stories. I taught microbiology at NWCC and many of my nursing students met Aunt Barbara in clinicals. They came back, saying that my aunt bragged about me! That was a real thrill. I bragged about her, too.
Barbara started out as my mentor in surgery and became a wonderful, trusted friend. We were best buds for 30 years. She had the most wonderful little quips about life adventures. She was one of the best nurses ever, always putting her patient first. Honest and trustworthy come to mind when remembering Barbara. Her sons and grandchildren and daughter in law were a source of pride and she loved relating their accomplishments. I loved her so much and miss her everyday.
My Aunt Barbara married much later than my mom so I always thought of her as my cool single Aunt. She was very proud of her kids and her job at St Francis. She always came to my events and family things. I’ll miss you Aunt Barbara.
