My grandmother was an amazing woman with a level of strength I will always admire. Parts of her life were not easy and certainly not fair. I believe she was a fighter, but I am relieved her fight is over and she is now alongside my grandfather. I am forever grateful to her for giving me my amazing father. I feel blessed to have shared some great moments with my Grandma. My favorite times were visiting her in Memphis. I can remember as a young girl thinking the blue velvet seats in her car were the most comfortable, beautiful seats I had ever sat on. When we visited, she insisted on us blow drying our hair after every shower. She always said we might catch a cold if we didn’t. It makes me laugh thinking about that, but I know it was the caregiver side of her. She was loyal to her family, especially my grandfather. I remember countless visits to the craft store to buy art projects. She used to love to take my siblings and I anywhere. We usually visited around Thanksgiving and she always enjoyed being our hostess during that time. I think I’ll always associate Thanksgiving with memories of her and all those autumn visits that she managed to make so wonderful. She didn’t care what we did, as long as we were with her. I’m thankful for having the privilege of knowing her, and will always miss her dearly. I love you grandma.
