Andrew Lee "Piggy" Land's Obituary
Andrew Lee Land, 39, of Collierville, TN died April 19, 2017. He leaves behind his beloved shotgun rider and wife, Kimberly MacNeil Land, and backseat driver, daughter, Shelby Land of Collierville. His adored role models, parents, Gary and Laura Land of Collierville, and his little brother, fellow Jeep lover and trail spotter, Chris Land, along with his wife Emily and their two children, Justin and Elizabeth, are left behind with memories of an incredible man, father, son, and brother. Andy’s extended family from Mississippi to North Carolina and his father-in-law, Bill MacNeil, of Bartlett, also grieve his passing. As a graduate of Germantown High School, and an attendee at the University of Memphis where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Andy has always been surrounded by people who simply wanted to be surrounded by him. A man full of love for others and a heart for friendship helped ensure that Andy’s life was incredibly rich with laughter, camaraderie, and adventure. Stories of his sense of humor and his willingness to help others, like his Jeep, traveled far and wide, often preceding his arrival. Known to so many as Pigpen, the President of Mid-South Jeeps, his leadership and his ability to bring people together are what helped enrich the many lives he touched during the short time he was here. The connections he made between people, many of whom became instant friends, are what will be carried on in his memory, whether it’s at a club meeting, a cookout, or an off-road ride on a dusty, rock-laden trail into the sunset, Andy will always be within each of us through what he gave us. An adventurer, a leader, and everybody’s “frind,” Andy leaves a legacy of love that will continue through those who so deeply love him. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 23 from 12 pm until 2:30 pm. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow visitation in Memorial Park Cemetery.“Celebrating Life…Behind the Stone Wall”
