Andrea Tomes' Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrea Tomes. She passed away peacefully on Friday May 9, 2025. She was born on August 7, 1965, in Memphis, TN, to her loving parents, Audrey and Harold Weiss. Andrea grew up in Memphis, attending St. Mary’s School, where she formed lasting friendships and a strong foundation for her future. She went on to pursue higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Christian Brothers University and later a Master’s in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Memphis.
Andrea’s career was marked by dedication and innovation. She began as a civilian contractor for the Air Force, later joining Dover Elevator Systems, where she applied her expertise in Operations Research. She then spent over 30 years at FedEx, serving as a Senior Operations Research Advisor, where her talent and contributions were recognized with a FedEx 5-Star Award in 2003.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Paul, and their son, Will. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Sydney, Sadie, and Summer, as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Jennifer Tomes.
Andrea will be remembered most for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her presence brightened the lives of all who knew her, and her spirit of generosity and devotion will live on through those she touched. Though she is no longer with us, the impact of her life will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial will be held at Idlewild Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 14th at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow (1750 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38104).
