Alyce Mary Guthrie, known to her loved ones as Alyce, Mama, Grandy, and A.M., passed away on June 8, 2023, at the age of 79 in Memphis, Tennessee. Alyce was born on July 29, 1943, in Memphis to James Madden "Boats" Newberry and Al Read Obituary
She will be missed.
I was deeply saddened to her of Alyce's passing. Her father "Boats" Newberry was one of the great mentors in my life, and almost everything I know about working with veteran's groups, I learned from him. Alyce and I remained friends afterward, and she, and the great work she did for PT Boats will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with both her immediate family and her PT Boat family. I've known Alyce for 30 years and will miss her deeply.
My heartfelt sorry to the Family at this time. I have known Alyce for many years now and we shared so much during our sometime weekly chats. I will miss her very much as I know so many will. She carried on what her Father had started many years ago, and no doubt made him proud. PT Boats Inc. will never be the same. I hope the family takes comfort in knowing that she will now be in Heaven with her Mother, Father, Brother and all of those PT BOAT VETERANS that loved her.
