Real Stories from Real People

We just preplanned our funeral and had an excellent experience with Danita Allen-Smith. Not only was she knowledgeable and understanding but also patient with our questions and took so much time to explain and make sure we got what we wanted. Such a great experience and I highly recommend using her!

“We live out of state and we had to plan for a cremation as the death was the result of an accident. Knowing no one in Memphis, Alex our director was fantastic and helped us through making the arrangements and went over and above our expectations to have the remains shipped to us. Professional experience and we did it all on the phone or through email.”

“Memorial Park Crematory just took care of the final arrangements that were preplanned after the passing of my children's father. Winston Hoover was very compassionate and a big help at this difficult time. He was compassionate and explained the entire process thoroughly. He communicated with me through the whole process and went well beyond what I could have expected. He brought us comfort in knowing that our loved one was in good hands. My sincere appreciation goes out to all those at Memorial Park - everyone was a comfort to me . Thank you! ”

“Recently, my Father-in-Law, Denis Rozier, passed away suddenly. Sadly, he had not made any final arrangements. We checked with a few funeral homes and didn’t feel comfortable with any we visited. I suggested to my wife, Laura, that we visit Memorial Park being that they had taken care of my mom several years earlier. Initially, we met with Dr. Jeff who listened to our needs and determined exactly what we needed. Then, we met with our assigned Director, Alex. I can’t express enough the genuine kindness and compassion exhibited by these two people. Denis was a Veteran, and this required coordination with the VA and the Veteran’s Cemetery. Alex handled everything perfectly…. she even answered my questions after hours. Alex and Dr. Jeff are true professionals and I highly recommend Memorial Park for that difficult time when final arrangements need to be made.”

“This is the third funeral in just over 2 years that I have planned or helped plan at Memorial Park. All of the staff have been wonderful. This time I worked primarily with Mr. Hoover. He was very professional and extremely compassionate after the sudden death of my husband. In less than a week we were able to pull together a wonderful memorial service. He also assisted in the logistics for the mass the next day and is currently assisting me with the Inurnment out of state later this summer. Mr. Hoover has definitely earned 5 stars and more.”

“All of the staff members were absolutely wonderful. All of our needs and concerns were addressed immediately. We were able to complete the requests my Mom had left as her last wishes. The staff made us feel so comfortable and helped us to make the many necessary decisions. The staff was so professional but we did not feel like we were talking to strangers just friends helping to guide us through the arrangements that needed to be made for the service. Please let the staff members know how much we appreciate their dedication to serving our community. Sincerely, SC”

“Terry Richards handled the burial of my only child with grace and concern. During the difficult decision-making process surrounding plot selection and service, Mr. Richards promptly answered and addressed my concerns which varied from delicately handling complicated intra-family dynamics to making certain that my son's memorial marker was exactly as I had ordered it (it had been damaged in shipping from the manufacturer). Following my son's service, Mr. Richards actively addressed various concerns promptly and with expedient remedy. Although recovering from major surgery, Mr. Richards still continued to provide assistance even while recuperating from his home. In short, Terry Richards is Memorial Park's greatest asset and is a true advocate to a devastated, grieving family. Because Easter 2024 was our first without our beloved son, we attended Memorial Park's Easter Sunrise Service to celebrate Resurrection Sunday in a particularly meaningful way. We could not believe how nice the event was! The setting was steeped in symbolism with an elegant cross decorated with white Easter lillies in the ceremony's backdrop, the famous Grotto. As for physical comforts, Memorial Park provided ample, seating, coffee and Gibson's donuts (!). A bagpipe player, a dove release, a fantastic and moving performance by a student choir, and a touching message from local clergy provided a true balm to our souls on this first Easter without our son. Memorial Park's perfectly manicured grounds made this event and each trip I make to the cemetery a reminder that our loved one truly rests in peace amid the serene and well-cared for grounds. Hats off to ALL the MP staff, but especially Terry Richards. Thank you, for all you've done for us sir. ”
