Wilma Young's Obituary
Wilma Young, 94, was born October 6, 1929 in Goodwater, AL. She died June 18 in Germantown, TN. She and her husband of 63 years, Braxton Young, attended school and church together since childhood. They have a daughter, Rhonda Thomason, a grandson Michael wife Jennifer, and great grandson, Sebastian, and daughter Suzanne Hatsell and husband Bryan, granddaughter Meredith Stice and husband Robert.
She will be remembered as a Godly woman, a peacemaker, who trusted in the Lord with the ups and downs of life. Some of her favorite verses: 1 Thessalonians 5: 16 - 18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.
Proverbs 3: 5 - 6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
She lived her life trusting and having faith in God.
Our mother was our most loving friend. Her definition of a friend: someone who knows all about you and still likes you. She took that further and told us there was nothing we could do that would stop her from loving us. And as much as she loved us, Jesus loved us more. From our childhood, “Jesus Loves Me” was the song she most often sang when putting us to bed.
Army service and a job that moved the family culminated in having life long friends across our country. The first Sunday after every move found them in church beginning membership and service. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”. Matthew 25:21 a
The family invites friends to gather June 21, 2024 for visitation at 2:00 pm with the service to follow at 3:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119.
