William Turner Weatherford's Obituary
William T. Weatherford, 90, passed away March 29th at St Francis Hospital after a long illness. He was formerly a Plans and Programs Specialist in DIPEC’s office of Planning and Financial Management. He was a World War II Combat veteran, 7th Division, 184th Infantry with 4 1/2 years service in four major campaigns from the Aleutian Islands to the Philippine’s. He was awarded the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Philippine Liberation Medal and 4 Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geneva Henley Weatherford, his son, Doug Weatherford and daughter-in-law, Tricia Weatherford, granddaughter, Amy Weatherford, two grandsons, Edward Weatherford and Tommy Weatherford, and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Nada Hewett of Memphis, Hazel Leath of Water Valley,KY,Caroline Weatherford of Corinth,MS,Sue Phillips (Jerry) of Roswell,GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Turner and Lillian Weatherford, and four sisters, Cressie Hicks, Katherine Terry, Ida Arnett, and Christine Lane;two brothers, Walter Weatherford and Maurice Weatherford. A visitation will be held Friday, April 2, 2010 from 5 -7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
