William Roger Terrell's Obituary
William Roger Terrell, Sr. “Bill” passed away at 83 years old on Thursday, December 31st, 2015 at his home in Memphis, TN. Bill was born on August 16, 1932 in Sheffield, Alabama to Gertrude and Claude T. Terrell, Sr. Bill was one of seven children and is survived by his sisters Dorothy Acree of Douglasville, GA and Ricky Barnett of Memphis, TN and brother Claude T. Terrell, Jr. “Buddy” of Olive Branch, MS. Bill married Margie Mae Terrell March 6, 1954 in Hernando, MS. They have 2 children, William Roger Terrell, Jr. and Linda Jewel Coleman both of Memphis, TN. Bill is also survived by 3 grandchildren, William Roger Terrell, III, Lacey Evelyn Hardin, and Lindsey Erin Terrell, and 3 great-grandchildren, Kash Cody Hardin, Sonny Clay Hardin, and William Roger Terrell, IV, and his best friend, Candy. Bill led a full and eventful life and had a heart for serving others. Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 2 years while fighting in the Korean War. Bill spent 30 years serving on the Memphis Fire Department from 1954-1984. He retired from the Memphis Fire Department as the Assistant Chief Fire Marshall. Bill then worked as the head of outside operations at Southwind Tournament Players Club. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge/Shriner Organization of Memphis, TN. Bill had a strong passion for whatever endeavor he embarked on. He was a widely loved man and was adored by many. He not only took pride in his jobs but also truly relished the friends he made during his life. Bill and Margie were active member of the Greater Memphis Square and Round Dance Association. They loved the time spent with so many close friends that they continued to enjoy for over 50 years. Bill loved being a square dance caller and sharing his passion for music with so many. The viewing of William Roger Terrell, Sr. will be Monday, January 4, 2016 from 5 – 7pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:30am.
