William Smith's Obituary
William “Bill” Elmo Smith, 67, of Memphis, died on Saturday, January 15, 2011. He was born in Tiplersville, MS and moved to Memphis at the age of 8 with his family. He attended and graduated from Messick High School where he was a three year football letterman. After graduating Messick, Bill went on to Memphis State University where he graduated with an Engineering Degree, and as a member of Sigma Chi he was the pledge of the year. Throughout his career he was awarded many times including the Jade Ring Award from Kraft Foods and the Five Star Award from Fedex. Bill was retired from Fedex as a Senior Project Manager. He was also a member of Audubon Park Baptist Church for 55 years. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Catherine “Kay” Hall Smith and his parents Johnny Elmo Smith and Ilene Hopper Smith and one brother in law Franklin Moody. He leaves his son Johnny “Jay” Smith and his wife Laura Leigh Smith of Olive Branch, MS, one brother Joe D. Smith and his wife Linda Smith of Olive Branch, MS, one sister Terece Smith Moody of Memphis, TN, one granddaughter Shelby Lynne Smith and many other loving family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, with funeral services to be held at 1:00pm, on Thursday, January 20, 2011, all at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
