William O Sloas' Obituary
Billy Sloas passed away peacefully at home, with his daughter, Terri Allen, by his side on September 29, 2022. William (Billy) Oscar Sloas was born July 9, 1930 in Marston, MO one of eight children born to Robert Edward and Effie (Eiceman) Sloas. Billy served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. While stationed in Bremerton, WA, he met Elizabeth (Betty) Daum. They were married in Shafter, CA and afterwards moved to New Madrid County in Southeast MO. Billy farmed near Portageville, MO. Billy and Betty moved to Memphis, TN with their 3 children in June of 1969 after an aluminum plant purchased a majority of their farm land. Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He liked to take family vacations. He was a loving husband, wonderful father to his three children and doting grandfather to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Nadine Kelly of Ocean Springs, MS and three children Steve (Lisa) Sloas, Terri (Larry) Allen, Lori ( John) Berry as well as grandchildren Brooke Allen, Lindsay (Caleb) Toole, Whitney (Gavan) Young, Stephen (Kelsey) Sloas and 4 great grandchildren. He leaves also many nieces and nephews that have he shared many wonderful times and memories. A special thanks to his caregiver Kelly Harris for not only giving him wonderful care but was his friend. Pastor Jim Muston will give the Eulogy at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis TN on Friday October 7th at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow after the burial at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN. He will lay to rest beside his wife in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
