William Holling Shields' Obituary
William Holling Shields, 62, of Germantown, passed away on April 20, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove, California in the family plot.
William was born April 2, 1960 in Walla Walla, Washington son of Donald and Barbara Shields. He graduated from Diablo Valley Community College with an Associates degree and also graduated from a trade school in car mechanics.
His passions were all things cars, but especially 1969 Chevy Nova’s. He loved working on cars in his younger years and also loved Nascar. He enjoyed camping and hiking and was enamored with the Colorado Rocky Mountains. His other passion was to make sure those around him were happy. He was quick with a joke or tease that would catch you off guard and then you would smile.
He made a career of working in the Grocery business stocking shelves, receiving the trucks with deliveries and helping customers. He was always ready to help others with a smile on his face.
William is preceded in death by his father Donald Shields. He is survived by his mother Barbara Shields of San Luis Obispo, CA, sister Eileen Fields (husband Tom) of Germantown, TN, Niece Allyson MacCauley (husband MIchael) of Asheville, NC, Nephew David Fields (wife Ashley) of Lillington, NC, and Great Nephews Sean MacCauley, Elijah Fields and Great Niece Kinsley Fields.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Cancer Foundation (P.O. Box 382638, Germantown, TN 38183), St. George’s Episcopal Church, Germantown, TN or a charity of your choice.
