William Scott's Obituary
William R. Scott, 78, of Collierville, passed away January 6, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was a graduate of Hernando High School and attended Northwest Junior College and Delta State University on a sports scholarship. Mr. Scott served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. During his career, he worked for Orgill Brothers, before retiring as vice president of L. D. Brinkman. He was an active member of Germantown Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, D. P. and Winnie Scott, and his wife of 46 years, Joan Scott. He is survived by his wife Barbara Scott; a sister, Elizabeth Griffith of Hernando, MS; three nephews, Scott Griffith (Vicky) of Hernando, MS, Brian Crawford and Dane Crawford of Little Rock, AR; great-nephew, Chris Griffith of Hernando, MS; two step-sons Jeff McFerran (Kathy) of Bartlett, TN and Greg McFerran (Melissa) of Knoxville, TN; five step-grandchildren, Rebekah and Katie McFerran of Bartlett, TN and Myles, Evan and Ella McFerran of Knoxville, TN. In addition to his family, he leaves his beloved companion and pet, Buddy. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 9 from 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. at Germantown Baptist Church with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
