William A. Schoolar, Jr.'s Obituary
William Albert Schoolar, Jr. 89, of Memphis, TN was born on December 30, 1922 to Ruth Bennett Schoolar and William A. Schoolar, Sr. He was a native Memphian and a graduate of South Side High School. He retired after 37 years from South Central Bell Telephone Company as an Engineer. Bill was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, a past president of the Memphis Exchange Club, a past president of the The East Council of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a twice past Wagonmaster of the Telephone Pioneers Family Camping Club. He was a life member of Unity Lodge #95, F&AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, American Legion Post No. 1 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15044. Mr. Schoolar was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret W. Schoolar. He will be greatly missed by his widow Mary E. Hurley Schoolar and beloved daughters Mrs. Lee S. Lindsay (Gerald) and Mrs. Catherine S. Smith (Randolph) of Memphis. He also leaves a step-daughter Mrs. Beverly H. Williams of Southaven and a step-son Charles M. Hurley of Memphis. Mr. Schoolar has 9 grandchildren, Jennifer L. Robichaux (Duane), Brad Lindsay (Jacki), Aaron Cooley (Jaimee), David Cooley (Kristin), Hunter Williams, and Holly Colongs (Mike), Mary Kathryn Hurley, Laurie Dowdy and Jeff Dowdy (Heather).He also has 8 great grandchildren Lindsay Grace Robichaux, Hadley Marie Cooley, Charlotte Marcella Cooley, Catherine Maurine Cooley, Andrew James Robichaux , Gracie Williams , Anna Claire Dowdy, and Drew Dowdy. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on Monday, October 22 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral services will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 2012. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be sent to the Exchange Club Family Center at 2180 Union Ave. or Ridgeway Baptist Church at 2500 Ridgeway Rd. Memphis , TN 38119.
