William Chamblin Rucker's Obituary
William Chamblin Rucker, 86, of Memphis, TN died at his home on Thursday May 28th. Born and raised in Dyersburg, TN, his enrollment at University of TN, Knoxville was disrupted by services in the United States Navy. During WWII entered as apprentice seaman, served as Communications Officer, fought and received Battle Stars at both Iwo Jima and Okinawa, was Commanding Officer U.S.S. LCI (R) 708, and received Philippines liberation ribbon. After graduating from UT Knoxville, he moved to Memphis and married Martha Jo Gulo in 1951. Throughout his business career, he worked for Memphis Publishing Co, Memphis Chamber of Commerce, WHBQ Television and founded Mid-America Publishing Company in 1978 where he successfully published Key Magazine along with his family for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Martha, sons Joe and John (Lisa), and grandsons Stuart and Sean Rucker all of Memphis. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 5 -7 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Fireside Chapel.
