William Newton "Bill" Bell's Obituary
William Newton “Bill” Bell passed away to be with the Lord June 10, 2017 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; parents, Robert and Jesse Bell; and brothers, Daniel and Robert. He is survived by his five children, Claudette Byrd (Rick), Shirley Davidson (Lance), Jeff Bell (Connie), John Bell (Pat), and Mary Elizabeth Huebner (Clay). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ian Byrd (Amy), Sam Davidson, Eric Hughes, Meredith Bullard (Gary), Nathan Bell, Alex Bell, and Natalie Holloway (Ben); and eight great-grandchildren, Colton, Lilly, Davis, Cameron, Cooper, Isabelle, Evelyn, and Ellie Mae. He is survived by his siblings, Ann Brown (Charles), Jeanette Lenahan, and Sonny Bell (Rosemary).Bill was an active member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 42 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement with his wife, taking trips to Gatlinburg and the beach, volunteer work at the church and Lions Club, as well as time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Bill had a great love for motorcycles and Cadillacs, owning his first Indian Motorcycle in his teens and Harley in his 50s. He lived a godly life, living true to himself and God. He was always kind, generous, and loving, putting family first. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on Tuesday, June 13 with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow the burial.
