William Nelson's Obituary
William F “Bill” Nelson passed away at his home in Olive Branch, MS and went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2018. He was born July 13, 1940 in Mobile, AL and was the son of Norman Bethea Nelson and Margaret Gass Nelson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman B Nelson, Jr. Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Leslie K. Nelson, William F Nelson Jr “Billy”, Jennifer Nelson Newman (John), Nicole Nelson Wood (Tate), Meredith Nelson, Michael Smith, and Kim Hill; grandchildren, Wil Wood, McLaine Wood, Hailey Anne Nelson, Kristin Parvin, David Warden, and Joanna Warden; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Puckett. Bill was an avid sportsman who treasured sharing his love of duck hunting and fishing with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a good story, even if you’d already heard it. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN where he taught 3 year old Sunday school for 34 plus years. Many, many children were taught to know and love their Heavenly Father through his crafts, stories, and songs. Bill was a Southern gentleman who never sought the spotlight and did not wish for a funeral and the sadness that accompanies one. For that reason, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Delta Waterfowl, www.deltawaterfowl.org or to the Children’s Nursery at Second Presbyterian Church, www.2pc.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
