William D Nation's Obituary
William “Bill” David Nation, went to be with his Lord in the evening of Friday, April 10th, while peacefully resting at his home in Collierville, TN.
Bill was born in 1950 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He grew up in Kansas and Oklahoma before settling in Tulsa, where he attended and graduated from Memorial High School. He then went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where he built lifelong friendships with his DKE fraternity brothers and met his beloved wife, Karleen. Their relationship began during their college years and remained a central part of his life.
Bill dedicated his entire professional career to Kroger, where he served as an executive. He was known for his leadership, work ethic, and commitment throughout his career.
In his later years, Bill found the most joy in time spent with his Oklahoma friends, OU Clubs, his Methodist church community, and, most importantly, his family. He valued connection, loyalty, and the relationships he maintained over a lifetime.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Karleen Nation, and his parents, William Benjamin Nation and Dorothy Harris Nation.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber Martin, and her husband, Craig of Germantown, TN, and their children, Ava and Cash, and by his son, Billy Nation, and his wife, Sydney of Collierville, TN, and their son, Billy. He is also survived by his cousin Ron Wilson of Dallas, TX, and family, and niece Melodie McDonald of Durham, NC, along with extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name may be made to Germantown United Methodist Church for “Room in the Inn”.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 16th, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Germantown United Methodist Church on Friday, April. 17th, at 11:00 AM, the interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall at Germantown United Methodist Church immediately following the interment.
