William "Bill" Lawing's Obituary
William “Bill” Oran Lawing of Germantown, passed away peacefully May 16, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Iris; his daughter, Vicki Woods (Jim); his son, Mike Lawing (Sam Henderson); and two grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Woods. He is also survived by his two brothers, Warren “Bud” Scott (Jackie) and Thomas Scott (Carol), and his sister Wanda Lenoir. He was a graduate of Memphis Tech High School and served in the U.S. Navy . Later he began his career at Memphis Light, Gas, and Water, retiring after 28 years of service. He followed his retirement with employment at United Airlines in Virginia. Although an avid sports fan, Bill’s greatest love in life was his wife, children and grandchildren, and nothing came before his family. Being an active member of his neighborhood, he leaves many dear neighbors and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express their thanks to the medical staff at Methodist Hospital Germantown for their attentive care and dedication. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m., at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Poplar Avenue. The burial will follow at Memorial Park
