William "Bill" Irving West's Obituary
WILLIAM “Bill” IRVING WEST III, 65, passed away at his home in Memphis on February 5, 2014 after a long illness. Raised on a farm in Proctor, AR. Bill attended Memphis University School, Germantown High School and Memphis State University. He worked in marketing and sales for most of his professional life. Beginning in high school and throughout his life, Bill played drums in numerous garage bands, including “Steve and the Squires” and “ Flashback.” Bill loved his dogs and was a true friend to all animals. His compassion was exhibited by the many rescue dogs he and his wife, Nanci West, shared their home with. Bill was predeceased by his mother June W. West and father William I West Jr. Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nanci Van Pelt West, two sisters, June Waddell West of Memphis and Kay West Forrest of Hardy, Arkansas and one niece, Kristin I Young of Memphis. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Memphis Heritage, Inc or the charity of the donor’s choice.
