My husband Bill Starnes loved Coach so much and continued supporting him until his death in 2018. I shared in that love also with him. Bill considered him a father and one to always look up to. Most of all they shared the Lord Jesus as brothers I’m Christ.
Although Coach Inman never coached me he spoke to me as if I was one of his own players. What a warm and genuine man. A wonderful servant of the Lord. Everyone always remembers people like him. I have no doubt that our Lord Jesus will tell him "well done my good and faithful servant". Rest in peace, my friend.
Every time I drive by Audubon Park I think about Billy Burrell. I thought the world of him and ran the park many times with him in the 60s. He talked me into doing a 50 mile run with him in 1965 and it is something I will never forget. We ran for a best time while his Hollywood students “hiked" the 50 miles. He was a huge influence in my life with running and I guess I passed it on to our kids. Our daughter is an ultrarunner currently training for a 100 miler and son is a half marathoner. Thank you, Billy Burrell, for all you gave us; you made everyone’s life you touched better. May you continue to run in Heaven.

Billy Burrell was a wonderful Christian example to me (and many others) when he was the Davis Park Commissioner in Memphis, where we won many Park-wide, sports’ championships. Billy Burrell was also a great influencer in my early adult years when we got together each time I returned to Memphis to visit my family. As Coach Inman in the Memphis high schools for many years, he greatly influenced countless other youths' lives as well. Billy Burrell was also a fierce basketball competitor, whom I enjoyed having on my team. However, he was your best friend after the competition! I will miss talking with him as we did during these last 2 years.
Billy Burrell is now at peace with his Heavenly Father.

I was not a part of any sports events at Trezevant, but I had great admiration, respect & love for Coach Inman. The posted photo here is as Coach Inman always appeared... with a genuine, welcoming smile for everyone!!! He had a joyous spirit that was inviting & I always felt happier after speaking with him!!! Thanks Coach Inman for making high school easier everyday!!!
